PRTG Installation

Now i am going to demonstrate that how to install PRTG in windows 7.

1.> we have to down load the PRTG from the :

https://www.paessler.com/download/prtg-download

2> unpack the prtg.zip

3> Before stating we have to install the dot net framework 4.51 or minimum 3.50 :

https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=17718

Now I am going to start the installation of the PRTG.

It has been completed the installation, after the instillation the PRTG run the Network Discovery.
which discover the whole devices in the same subset including network devices.

if the public community is enabled on the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)  then it will discovered the interface as well.

Now I am going to show you to add the interface of the HP A5120 Switch. & CISCO SWITCH

first i am going to enable the snmp setting to the switches

Now open the PRTG and add a GROUP named SWITCHES and add the switches in the group.

like this :

And select the all connected interfaces just like the above images, also select the Additional channels

Errors In & Out

so we can check the status of that interface that received any error or above criteria.

and wait for 30 seconds so that the PRTG will receive the SNMP data.

and the right side we can see the current bandwidth utilization of the interface just like below:

The above information's are very useful we can check the broadcast in & out, error in & out multicast in & out, unicast in & out, Total Traffic, traffic in & traffic out, unknown protocol and downtime as well.

so we have the lots of things that can help us to troubleshoot the network issue.

In PRTG lots of the things that can help us to troubleshoot the network, i love it.

Thanks PRTG

and Thanks to you for reading, Happy learning...

PRTG Backup and Restore

Hi All ! Today I am going to demonstrate how to backup PRTG and restore. Let's starts ! 1> we have to stop the service of the PRTG Core Server Service and PRTG Probe Service 2>  go to start run and type %programdata% and copy the Paessler folder to the another location 3> Before reinstalling the PRTG restore the backup copy of the data (Paessler folder)  as the previous location (%programdata%)  and then install the PRTG, and remove the Network Discovery if not required. you will find the old data with the new PRTG, it don't matter what the OS you are using. Now it has been completed your backup and restore the PRTG. Happy Learning !

ArubaOS-CX, ArubaOS- Switch, Comware and Cisco IOS

The command line comparison demonstrated for 4 different OS of the switches, I think this will help you to understand the configuration level deployment. Comware Differences If you are familiar with either the ArubaOS-Switch CLI or the Cisco IOS CLI, you will notice that the  Comware CLI is organized slightly differently . Comware was designed for Internet service providers (ISPs). Many features and functions—such as security and Quality of Service (QoS)—are multi-tiered to  support the different needs of multiple entities accessing the same switch. ArubaOS-CX ArubaOS switch (now the Aruba OS), HPE Comware version 7 Cisco IOS ArubaOS-CX operating system runs on the 8400 and 8320 switches. ArubaOS Switch operating system runs on Aruba 2530 , Aruba 2920 , Aruba 2930F , Aruba 2930M , Aruba 3810M , Aruba 5400R , HPE 2620 , HPE 3500 , HPE 5400 and HPE 3800 switch platforms.
