The pictures are shown below:

COM1:
Console Cable:
Or You can use converter like this to connect to your laptop USB port :
  • Connect the cable to the console cable with your system and power on the switch

and hit Enter

Press ENTER to get started, you will able to see like this:

#Apr 26 12:19:44:864 2000 HPSWITCH SHELL/4/LOGIN:
 Trap 1.3.6.1.4.1.25506.2.2.1.1.3.0.1: login from Console

As we know that the cisco having three stage to get into the switch console, just like same here.

user mode : >
privilege mode : #

and the global config mode: config#

same structures are here but little more differ from the Cisco

  • here we have the user mode and system mode. As we know that the user mode having the only basic commands.
  • System mode having the all configuration privileges.
  • Cisco having the show command to check the configuration and here display command to check the configuration.
  • but in the HP we have the more information in the display interface brief as compared with Cisco. let's check out :
CISCO SWITCH#sh ip int bri
Interface              IP-Address      OK? Method Status                Protocol
Vlan1                  192.168.20.253  YES manual up                    up
FastEthernet0/1        unassigned      YES unset  down                  down
FastEthernet0/2        unassigned      YES unset  up                    up
FastEthernet0/3        unassigned      YES unset  down                  down

we have the only information about the interface, IP, OK, Method status and protocol.

but in HP we have lots of more information:
like, Link, speed, duplex, type (Auto/Trunk/Hybrid).

Really it's great, as compared with Cisco, and it's lots of functionality as well.

as shown here :

 Let's start the configuration:

I am assigning IP for Vlan 1, and try to ping test.

Now changing the host name and giving the default route:

Creating user and password and setting up the line vty.

Save and check the configuration :

Here running config know as the current-configuration, startup config known as saved-configuration and write known as the save.

and more interesting command are there to enjoy the troubleshooting part, will show you in the future post.

Thanks for reading, have a nice learning :)

                                              Demonstrated By:
                                               Naresh Mahato.

ArubaOS-CX, ArubaOS- Switch, Comware and Cisco IOS

The command line comparison demonstrated for 4 different OS of the switches, I think this will help you to understand the configuration level deployment. Comware Differences If you are familiar with either the ArubaOS-Switch CLI or the Cisco IOS CLI, you will notice that the  Comware CLI is organized slightly differently . Comware was designed for Internet service providers (ISPs). Many features and functions—such as security and Quality of Service (QoS)—are multi-tiered to  support the different needs of multiple entities accessing the same switch.
